A Manhattan man is getting a new trial in the killing of a motivational speaker in Manhattan -- a stabbing death he says was assisted suicide.

Kenneth Minor was previously convicted and sentenced to 20 years to life for killing Jeffery Locker.

But attorneys say Locker recruited Minor to help him commit suicide in 2009 and gave him an ATM card as compensation.

The death was allegedly made to look like a mugging so Locker's family could collect insurance money.

Assisted suicide is illegal in New York, but is allowed as a defense to murder.

Minor's attorneys argue that manslaughter would have been a more appropriate charge. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
