Authorities in Queens are investigating after a worker was fatally crushed by a forklift this morning.

Fire officials say it happened around 11 a.m. at the Raw Equipment Corporation building located at 2800 College Point Boulevard in College Point.

Officials at the scene tell NY1 the support holding up the forklift gave way and crushed the victim while he was making mechanical repairs.

The victim's name and age were not immediately available.

"You gotta be careful all the time especially using equipment like that. It can happen anywhere, anytime. Obviously it's sad," said one worker.

An official with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was on the scene.

NY1 was unable to reach OSHA for comment as their press office is closed due to the government shutdown. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
