A city police officer was injured Monday following a car chase in Lower Manhattan.

According to witnesses, police officers were chasing on foot a car going the wrong way down Elizabeth Street around 1 p.m.

That's when the driver turned into oncoming traffic on Bayard Street and at least one officer was struck.

Witnesses say the fleeing driver ran a red light and crashed into a yellow cab and a van.

NY1 has reached out to the NYPD for comment.
