A small dog is dead after his owner says he was ripped from his leash by a pit bull Friday.

Dionis Rembeci says one pit bull attacked him and another pit bull attacked his 1-year-old dog, Fluffy, in West Brighton.

According to Rembeci, the pit bull bit Fluffy on the neck, shook him and ultimately killed him.

"I was trying to find something to separate the dog from my baby," Rembeci said. "He was so friendly. He was so innocent."

Rembeci says the other pit bull pushed him down, cutting his leg.

He fainted after the incident and went to Staten Island University Hospital for x-rays.

His son, Albano, said that Fluffy never harmed a soul.

"He was the most friendly dog, smart," Albano Rembeci said. "He was playful at all times, and it was just unfortunate for this to happen."

"I feel bad for the pit bulls because they really look like they were well taken care of," said neighbor Zoraida Rivera. "I don't know how they get to be that vicious with other puppies, but I think they shouldn't be in the neighborhood."

The pit bull is being held by animal control.

Its owners say it escaped their property through a back gate. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
