A mom fights back after being attacked while with her child in Upper Manhattan.

Police say 33-year-old Mary Jane Jarman was pushing her child in a stroller on the Hudson River Greenway near 190th Street Friday morning when she was suddenly grabbed by a man holding a broken bottle.

Jarman says she fought back, hitting her attacker with a bicycle pump.

"His sole intent was to hurt me, so I was not going to go down like that and leave my son," Jarman said.

The suspect ended up running away and is believed to have sustained some sort of wound from the bike pump.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
