The City Council approved a rezoning for a large part of a rapidly changing Brooklyn neighborhood Tuesday.
The rezoning applies to about 55 blocks of an area in the western part of Crown Heights.
The area is bordered by Washington Avenue to the west and goes as far as Atlantic Avenue to the north, Nostrand Avenue to the east and Eastern Parkway to the south.
The move limits the height of new developments and gives developers incentives for including affordable units.
Supporters say the rezoning will help preserve the small row-houses and apartment buildings that characterize the area while keeping the neighborhood affordable for longtime residents.
