Fine dining and flash mobs don't usually go together, but that's exactly what happened Wednesday night in Manhattan.
Four thousand people dressed in white from head to toe descended on Bryant Park for the third annual "Diner en Blanc" or "Dinner in White."
The location was kept secret until about an hour before the event.
Diners brought their own silverware, china and fine cuisine to enjoy a spontaneous evening of elegance.
"We have prosciutto, merlot, great wine, and cheese. It's a great mixture of French and being creative with what we can prepare," said one participant.
"Everyone pretty much cooked their own dinner to bring, so all the picnic baskets here are filled with home cooked food. We had to bring pretty much everything in white, so linens tablecloths, glasses, outfits as you can see, so it should be a fun time," said another participant.
The event started 25 years ago in Paris.
This year, more than 100,000 people took part in 40 cities around the world.
