It's still not clear what sparked a massive fire that ripped through five homes in Queens last night.
The fire broke out in a two story row house on 68th Avenue in Middle Village around 8 p.m.
The fire department says the flames quickly spread through the cockloft to four neighboring houses.
It took about two hours to bring the flames under control.
"We saw just a blast of orange flames and we ran down the street because the first thing we thought was kids were in the building. As we ran down the fire department came and it just started spreading and smoke was everywhere," said one witness.
No one in the homes was hurt, but about a dozen firefighters suffered minor injuries.
The Red Cross says it's helping the displaced residents.
