City officials honored law enforcement officers who died on September 11, 2001 at the annual ceremony at the Police Memorial Wall in Battery Park City Friday.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said that police officers and federal agents have held up a pledge to honor the legacy of the city's fallen heroes by stopping terrorism in its tracks.

There has not been an attack on the city in more than a decade.

"Today, we recommit ourselves to these unprecedented efforts to protect the public by dedicating our work to the heroes of 9/11 and pledging to honor them always in our memories and in our hearts," Kelly said.

The Police Memorial Wall was dedicated in 1997.
