Some Brooklyn warehouses that have sat vacant for more than 50 years are about to get a makeover, city officials announced Wednesday.
Private development company Midtown Equities has been selected to turn the historic tobacco warehouses into restaurant, retail and office space.
Construction is expected to begin next year.
As part of the deal with the city, nearly an acre of new parkland will also be developed.
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Board of Directors also approved a lease with St. Ann's Warehouse theater company.
