The New York Daily News threw its support behind Joe Lhota in the Republican primary on Sunday, marking another big endorsement for his mayoral bid.
The paper says the hype over Democratic mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner and the stop-and-frisk debate has been a distraction from "a superbly qualified candidate."
The paper writes, "Joe Lhota brings to the campaign an unparalleled record of high-level, government service and private sector experience. In terms of executive management under pressure, he has been there and done that — successfully. He also offers a clear vision of a city government that is compassionate, cost-effective and dedicated to delivering measurable results."
Lhota also has endorsements from the New York Post and the New York Times.
