A Jersey City man is under arrest for allegedly assaulting a police officer after he allegedly jumped a turnstile at a Manhattan subway station, and police say a trusty canine helped collar the suspect.

Police say the 32-year-old man hopped a turnstile Wednesday night at the A/C/E station on 14th Street.

They say a female transit officer tried to stop him, and police say the suspect assaulted her while trying to get away.

Police say he ran into the nearby Dream Hotel.

Officer Edwin Ramirez and his K-9 partner, Diesel, were called in.

Police say they followed the suspect's scent from a hat and t-shirt left at the scene.

He was found in a second-floor room that was under construction, according to police.

The suspect faces charges including theft and resisting arrest.

The female officer suffered minor injuries.
