New Yorkers are being told to be on the lookout for what appears to be a group of con-men targeting Con Edison customers.

The utility is warning customers to be on the lookout for scammers posing as company employees.

Con Ed says the fake workers promise to lower a customer's bills, in exchange for cash or checks.

Customers should always ask for an employee's ID.

They can also call 1-800-75-CONED to see whether a person really works for the company.
