Police are hoping surveillance video leads them to a man who they say sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in Queens.
Police say the man seen in the image above followed the girl into an elevator in the South Jamaica Houses at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday and assaulted her inside the elevator.
Police say she screamed and he ran off when they reached the girl's floor.
NY1 spoke with one woman who said she's lived in the building where it happened for 23 years.
She said she's surprised to hear about the attack, and wants more police presence.
"For this to happen to a little child, we have to have the neighborhood protected more," the woman said. "They ride around for drugs. They should be riding around for safety, period."
The suspect is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build.
He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black-and-white t-shirt and a black-and-white baseball cap.
