Thousands gathered in Manhattan Sunday to celebrate Indian independence.
Orange, white and green lined the India Day Parade route on Madison Avenue Sunday afternoon.
For the 33rd year in a row, Indians and Americans of Indian descent came out to honor their heritage with floats, music and food.
"We love our country, and that's why every year, on 15th of August, we got the independence, so we celebrate the Independence Day parade," said one person at the parade.
"I'm so far from my country, from my family, friends, festivals and everything, but I have this feeling that I can enjoy myself," said another. "So that's the best thing for me."
"It feels good to be in a parade for my culture," said a third.
The parade ended with a 40-booth showcase on 23rd Street.
