New York State driver licenses will be going black and white, but they're certainly not going low tech.
The Department of Motor Vehicles is rolling out a new design that includes more than 30 security features.
The photos and information will be now be engraved with a laser, instead of printed, and the license will be made of more durable material.
Another big change is for drivers under 21.
To make it easier for alcohol vendors to spot those who are underage, their licenses will be printed vertically.
All DMV offices in the state are expected to have the new licenses by late next month.
They will also be available for online renewals and applications this Thursday, and by phone or mail by October.
