Police say a chance sighting led officers to seize nearly 20 pounds of heroin in a drug bust Saturday night.
Authorities say the two officers were patrolling Inwood around 8:30 p.m. Saturday when they saw a man place a duffel bag into the trunk of a double-parked car.
Police say the officers decided to take a closer look because it was a known drug-trafficking area.
They say the man took off running when the officers approached, and they're still trying to track him down.
The duffel was filled with roughly 25,000 bags of heroin, with an estimated street value of about $750,000.
Police arrested 26-year-old Joancis Delacruz-Arias, who they say was sitting in the driver's seat at the time. He's charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
