Disruptions on the R subway line will begin Friday night, when a Hurricane Sandy-damaged subway tunnel is closed for repairs.
The Montague Tunnel, which connects Manhattan and Brooklyn, was flooded during the storm.
Its closure will impact service on the R for 14 months, beginning at 11:30 p.m. Friday.
The MTA calls it a wide-ranging reconstruction project that includes revisions to protect the tunnel from future storms.
In the meantime, the Rockaway Ferry extended its service to Sunset Park to help aide commuters.
Similar work is being done on a tunnel used by the G train, although that work is only being done on certain weekends.
