Many New York City voters made it quite clear tonight they feel Anthony Weiner, and his wife, are trying to fool them. Viewers said they could forgive Weiner a first time, but allegedly continuing to take part in an online sexual relationship after his fall from Congress - simply is too much to bear. They're calling on him to suspend his campaign for mayor, so they, and the other candidates, can move forward with the race. Well, it may be too late for that. Where would all that campaign money go???
More sexually explicit messages are revealed today from former Congressman and Mayoral Candidate Anthony Weiner. Weiner admitted some of the messages, published on the gossip and nightlife website The Dirty, are from him, but he says he and his wife are focusing on moving forward.
The Dirty published a series of sexually explicit messages Weiner is said to have exchanged with a young woman he met online. The website says the relationship began after Weiner resigned from Congress two years ago. It was said to have lasted for six months and may have been going on after the birth of Weiner's son. The website says Weiner and the woman exchanged photographs and had sexual phone conversations.
In a statement released today, Weiner said he always believed other text messages and photos were likely to come out during the campaign, but he did not get into the time frame of the messages. He said: “As I have said in the past, these things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress. While some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong. This behavior is behind me.” What do you say?
What’s your reaction to the latest sex chat allegations against Anthony Weiner? As a voter, can you put this behavior behind you? Does it affect your decision in the race for City Hall? Should Weiner step out of the mayoral race?
Send your thoughts using the e-mail link above.
He depresses me. And I never thought I’d say this about the antics of those oxygen thieves Europeans call “royalty”, but I’d much rather hear about babies – any babies – than unrepentant, entitled, superannuated fratboys like Anthony Weiner and Elliot Spitzer.

The latest allegations regarding Anthony Weiner's sexual escapades is the final nail in his political coffin. It is time for this individual to permanently withdraw from the mayoral race, and to seek professional help in dealing with this very serious problem. The woman who made this latest allegation is from Arizona. Why did she wait until now to reveal this ?It really does not matter. At this point Anthony Weiner's political career is over-period! He has become a political pariah to the Democratic party in this city.
How low can you go? Trot your long suffering wife out in that manner, why she doesn't dump him is beyond me. Obviously, he will NEVER change. I hope he loses and disappears for good.
Was this planted by any of his female opponents? Also maybe Spitzer's rise in the polls will help Anthony. This is obviously a hatchet job and maybe he and his wife have an arrangement. What does Time Warner get from Quinn; follow the money. Yu wont print this.
For a smart, ambitious guy, Weiner shows what must be a knowingly self-undermining lack of self-control, judgement and common sense, as well as ANY sense that actions have consequences. Please, Mr. Weiner, end the side show and get out of the race now. Go see if you can hold your family together. Me, I am picturing Huma and your son hitting the Clinton campaign trail ASAP and leaving you in the dust; then you Carlos Danger can IM anyone you want.
I was set to vote for Mr. Weiner until this revelation. The simple truth, however, is that we cannot afford to have a mayor who is in (or in desperate need of) psychotherapy (just ask the residents of San Diego about Mayor Filner there).
Mr. Weiner seems to have some kind of a professional death wish -- why he needs to act it out in front of all of us is a mystery for a therapist to work out with him, but I wish he would now just leave the stage.
If he wants to kill himself, professionally or any other way, he should do it in private. And his wife and son have my sympathy.
Meanwhile, the Republican ticket is looking better and better to me, at least at the top.

I am just left to question the stupidity of his behavior, more than anything.
If you are a public figure -especially a Politician- you have to realize that your bad behavior will be become public at some point.
For me, the question remains "Who is best suited to be NYC next Mayor?" The answer "Anthony Weiner".
All human beings are subject to imperfections. Mr. Weiner has demonstrated contrition and so deserve a second chance. Mr. Weiner has my vote.
HE NEEDS TO STEP OUT OF THE RACE!!! I don't care that his wife is moving forward with him. She can move forward and then move out - if he wins for mayor - WE CAN'T LEAVE!! WE'RE STUCK with a guy that suffers from bouts of very poor judgement. CAN WE LET HIM RUN OUR GREAT CITY? I THINK NOT!!! PUBLIC - DON'T BE FOOLED -

THIS IS SO STUPID, AND THIS MAN-CHILD HAS A LOT TO LEARN, AS FAR AS, 'SHOW ME YOURS AND I'LL SHOW YOU MINE' ROUTINE IS IN PLACE!!! HOWEVER, I SENSE SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON HERE. WIENER IS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH HIS WIENER AND IS HANGING IT ALL OUT, UNTIL SOME FEMALE-COUGAR SMACKS HIM CRAZY!! THE MAYORS ELECTION RACE IS OUT OF CONTROL. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THEY ALL SIT DOWN AND WRITE THEIR MOMMY DEAREST LETTER OR PARAGRAPH. MY MOTTO OF CELIBACY IS THE NEW BLACK HAS TAKEN OFF, ONLY TO HAVE TO RETURN TO BASE FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. OR, HE CAN GO ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE AND DECLARE IF HIS ... IS IN THE BOX!!! WIENER IS HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME AFTER THE BIRTH OF HIS SON. SO, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, WIENER CAN BE SUFFERING FROM REVERSE POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION, AND IS USING THIS MAYORAL FIASCO AS THE WAY HE FEELS AND THIS WAY, GOING PUBLIC WIENER WOULD LIKE TO USE CAPTURING OUR ATTENTION ON HOW HE HAS REDEEMED HIMSELF.
I WOULD APPRECIATE THAT THE RESIDENTS OF NEW YORK CITY, AVOID/IGNORE HIS ELECTION BID. AS FAR AS HAVING LEFTOVER CAMPAIGN FUNDS; THIS RESOURCE NEEDS TO BE RETURNED TO THE PUBLIC, AS MOST OF US ALREADY KNOW WHERE AND OW TO DEAL WITH THIS PORTION OF THE BODY, AND HOW TO MAINTAIN SAME. IN CONSIDERATION TO THE ROAD HE HAS CHOSEN, I QUESTION IF WIENER IS CAPABLE ENOUGH TO KEEP THIS VERSION OF MASTERS AND JOHNSON (sic) WHERE IT BELONGS; IN THIS CASE, WIENER WOULD NEED PERMISSION FROM ALL THOSE RELATIVES WHO WERE BRAVE ENOUGH TO TELL WIENER, 'ENOUGH ALREADY, THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. GIVEN THE ATMOSPHERE WE ARE TRYING TO DEAL WITH, ON An ADULT BASIS. WIENER DOES NOT QUALIFY. MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE A CLOSER LOOK AT HIM, TO DETERMINE, THAT MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, WIENERS GENITALIA'S IS IN HIS SHOULDERS, AND HE IS TRYING NOT TO FIND OUT, THAT THIS EPISODE WILL ALSO PASS.
Anthony Weiner is turning the Mayoral race into more of a circus than it has been. His 'behaviors', as he euphemistically refers to his lewd texts and pictures, do point up the issue of his getting caught. We all are painfully aware that there are too many 'horn dogs' in office, on city state and federal levels that haven't been exposed, but why should we elect yet another one, a recidivist 'horn dog' at that? His wife's declaration that they are putting it behind them, that is a matter between them cuts no ice- in her culture she has learned that men can do as they please and a wife merely suffers through the humiliation. After all. Hilary was a mentor to her. If it is between them, let it be so but he will need to step out of the race. We as voters in NYC should not be the butt of jokes because we have not one, but two unabashed womanizing jerks who think they are so irresistible that no matter what they do, we will elect them.
As a voter I want someone who is honest in his/her political and fiscal dealings and morally upright as well. I want to have a modicum of trust doing on.That may sound naive, but I'd rather be a tad idealistic than the sad cynical chump who would give my vote to a cheat and a liar, just because there are more guys like him who just haven't been caught yet.

Is it just me, or is anyone else sick and tired of seeing this ugly, unlikeable man explaining, apologizing, etc., for his "mistakes?" BTW, how come sleazy pols and athletes make mistakes, but the rest of us commit sins or crimes? I always thought a mistake was something wrong done UNintentionally.
Is this round three? I don’t believe it because he like all politicians
lie about everything. I believe there is more to come.
Both of them want that power so badly that she gets on TV and forgives
him of all of these scandals.
She has a long laundry list of moonlighting and she’s getting away with
it even though it’s against the law.
I guess she is learning from the masters she hangs out with.
But we the tax paying American people have to watch our P’s and Q’s
plus walk around as though we were walking on egg shells.
Mr Weiner should step down from the mayoral race he's making it bad for his party i don't know why his wife is standing by his side like that Christine Quinn is the only decent mayoral candidate she have morals she have my vote all the way

I don't really care if Mr. Weiner decides to take himself out of the race.
I think that the voters of the city need to send a strong message about Mr. Weiner's lack of good judgement.
It is sad that every time that Mr. Weiner is out of view of people that people will
always wonder what he is up to now. Every time that he is a few minutes late for the rest of his life his wife and family will wonder what he is up to now? I don't want to shake his hand. Not enough Purell in this world.
Sad...sick he needs to go to a shrink. Get help before his son realizes what his father has done.
Mr. Weiner has it all wrong. He actually thinks that he is in control of the people of NYC.
All the voters have to do it to "Just say no" to Mr. Weiner and that would be that!
Case closed and step on down!
Mr. Weiner is his own worst enemy. He needs to get out of his own way.
Kathy from Throggs Neck da Bronx
P.S. If the voters put him in office shame on them!
I was very disappointed that Weiner's sexting is overshadowing the real news such as the slush funds and pay to play politics under Speaker Christine Quinn's leadership, or lack of leadership to be precise. Just today it was revealed that city council members were obvious to their contributions to the High Line. The Friends of the HIgh line are a consortium of real estate developers and rich people who donated thousands and thousands of dollars to Quinn's Mayoral race. Weiner's sexting is creating too much of a diversion and I beg the media to investigate the slush fund scandals. Corruption is hurting us all, not people' sexual activities and lifestyles.
Morris Park, Bronx
The distressing part of Mr Wiener's wiener fascination is that all this bruhaha about it creates a misconception in our vulnerable (younger) public that nonsense like this is okay with us when it's not! Anyone, any visitor, any business considering NYC," the entire world is watching us dissolve in a stream of bad taste and inappropriate focus. It's a huge waste of our time, and at this stage frankly, anything he admits to is most likely the tip of the iceberg.
My idea of a leader is NOT someone who has a press conference to say 'Oh, yeah, I slipped up with my - you know - same old addiction, but hey, my wife says it's okay." We're not talking about some guy who screwed up as a confused young man and has since gotten hold of himself, pun intended.
We have real problems on a much larger scale than Weiner and his libido, or his out of control addiction, or whatever the core issue is with this guy. Has he any idea for example how bad an example his on line behavior is? Not to mention his toying with us.
Please somebody tell him to go play and let us try to raise the level of civilization in our town without his constant disruptions.
Really really embarrassed we're paying attention to this of all things!

Mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner does it again apparently with a new report that he has engaged as recently as a year ago in despicable social media acts. Meanwhile his wife stands by him and defends Anthony. Isn't that precious ? Well all I can say is to repeat the words of fictional character Forest Gump," Stupid is what stupid does."
Freddy- Glen Oaks Village,
These new pictures n texts will not effect my vote on Anthony Weiner. I will continue to vote for him and encourage others too as well. This man' s personal life and affairs does not, has not and will not effect his judgement on government decisions. Kennedy was a great President, Clinton was a great President, Spitzer was a great governor but they all had affairs. Sexual behavior does not make u a good or bad leader.
Donald in kew gardens, Queens
Yes. Anthony Weiner, should step out of the mayoral race. Positive or negative character, DOES count and judging by his actions and admission, he doesn't have good character and a person without good character, cannot govern. He or she, will always have that dark cloud hanging over them.
The man needs help. NYC has enough problems. We don't need a sick man in charge. His wife also needs help. Or is she just as ambitious and shameless as he is.
Allen - East Village
I hope all of those people who wanted to give Weiner a "second chance" take notice. He continued to be a perv even after he resigned from Congress.
People who do this kind of thing don't change, it's a compulsion, and it's not going to stop. It's totally beyond me how anyone can support him for mayor. He's psychologically damaged.
Meryl from manhattan
He should stand aside and let Chris Quinn get on with it!
This is the last straw! No one of this shady and insincere character deserves to lead the great city of New York. He obviously believes New Yorkers are dumb enough to fall for his lame excuses, but his shameless lying will prove otherwise.
Weiner sex scandal: exactly why this government is falling apart. He needs to step out because if he becomes mayor I'm scared to know what the rest of the government secrets are who haven't been caught
Upper East Side
I think this guy has no business running for office one scandal is enough he has no respect for himself his constituents and his wife and I just can't believe how she still sticks by him through all of this mess. Voters deserve better candidates who have respect for themselves the office and have their personal lives in order. Get him and client#9 another disgrace off the ballot.
Weiner's charade is over and so is Spitzers. One sent lewd photos after apologizing and the other stuck the taxpayers with a travel bill to be with a prostitute.
Is he kidding ?? He was still actingbout ! He's not a true individual ... The real life Pinocchio he just keeps on fibbing ... It has nothing to do with his marriage .. It's about our TRUST How can we trust someone like that ...
Wiener has always been a good leader and my concern is, will Weiner serve our city as a good mayor? Whatever happens in his personal life is not my concern as a voter. We need to stop trying to make all leaders look like they're supposed to be perfect. That is just unreal?
No one is free of sins.
I had concerns about Weiner who seems to have issues with handling stress. Being the mayor of NYC needs a person who can handle stressful situations and make good sounds judgments. Weiner is clearly not that person. To continuing to behave in this way after resigning. He should rethink this position until he matures and gain some common sense.
His allegations does not matter to me. His personal affairs are his business. People are acting "shocked" with his actions but people do these kinds of things all the time. The bottom line is as long as this does not effect his work.
I say let the voters decide.
I do not believe this scandal on weiner he is not a favorite for Mayor. I feel this is someone perhaps being paid by one of his competitors! No one can be this stupid! Again I don't find him a favorite but I question this info coming out at this particular time. I smell something fishy all over this!
Weiner needs help and I feel soooo sorry for his lovely wife.
Steven Of Jamaica
It is a disgrace that a man with no moral integrity can think that everyday hard working New Yorkers would cast a vote for him and think we could trust him to govern our city or any political office. As far as I'm concerned he does not exist and should no longer consider himself for any public office. He should choose another career.
This is ridiculous and takes away from important issues that we as a city must deal with. End the circus and lets have real issues discussed. Time for Anthony Weiner to drop out, but then we we will probably be handed Pee Wee Herman running to purposely distract us away from reality. Why ignore all the other candidates for this sicko??
Anthony Weiner warned that more details were going to come out about him. So today's the day. Now we can past his personal indiscretions and vote him into office.
If Anthony doesn't win the primary, I will be voting for the Republican candidate.
Many people can have some form of mental illness and it does not affect their functioning.
However, it is obvious that Mr. Weiner does not acknowledge that he has a problem and has not received adequatehelp for his problem. He is addicted to this problem and this would definitely affect his performance as mayor. He needs to get well first.
He is bright and capable and will do a better job at running this city than anyone else on the democratic ballot.
I truly do not care about his personal life---Of course when in public life a bit more discretion is in order; but I will definitely vote for him if given the opportunity.
If not Mr. Weiner than Mr Llhota has my vote.
We need a mayor who will make the hard policy decisions--. we are arrogant as New Yorkers---and there is no long term planning for maintaining infrastructure--and lest we go the way of Detroit we better have strong long term fiscal planning.
It's in the past and honestly, Weiner can do whatever he wants with his weiner as long as he delivers to the citizens of New York City.
If Weiner wins, he can roll-back Giuliani's clean up of Times Square and bring back the Peep Shows.
The president asked him to step down the first time around, why don we agree the second time?
He Lied!! Plain and simple, then he lied again when he expressed contrition. Now he's back at it, should we really be surprised?
NO one is perfect . . . and I'm as far from a snob as you can get but bare in mind that he's wishing to campaign for a LEADERSHIP position and that is not Leadership behavior (or brains, for that matter) . . . say what you want about Giulianni or Bloomberg but one must admit, perhaps grudgingly, that they at least conduct and deport themselves as leaders.
Lower East Side
Mr. Weiner is a brilliant political mind and a man who makes mistakes like all humans do. This is not a political mistake, it's a marital one and does not deter me one bit from giving him my full support.
It's OK to have a private life if that's your thing and your wife tolerates it -- nobody is saying its against the law.
That said, there are some consequences to this behavior when you're in the public eye. It reflects poorly on the both Mayor's office and the city, and if these distractions are all we're talking about it will put up huge road blocks to getting anything done policy-wise and his ability to stay on message. It shows a lack of judgement, self-control, and leadership.
Matthew, Upper West Side
Anthony Weiner should not simply be asked to step down from the race because of his massaging scandals. This is an issue between him and his spouse, Huma Abedin. This is not a public affair and citizens should stay out of the private lives of others. Anthony Weiner as a mayoral candidate should be judged based upon the merits of his platform. How does he compare on the issues? That's what's significant. I am not saying that I am voting for him, merely that this is not what is important in our city's future health.
- Syed Ali from Westchester Village, Bronx
It may not have nothing to do with his personal life but he made it public which is a disgrace what example are you setting fo r our children! Drop out of the race and go get help!
A man who will lie to his wife will lie to anybody about anything.
If Anthony Weiner is the answer, it must be a stupid question.
John, Park Slope.
The new allegations just prove that Anthony Whiner has absolutely no self control. If he cannot control himself at least for the Mayoral race how will he keep our City under control?
I am voting for Weiner. I not believe is a second scandal; This is old news. Someone paid this woman lovely to lie and bring up a past issue. Technology today will allow you to change dates on text messaging. Weiner is an intelligent man, he will not repeat the same mistake with all the public eyes on him; especially Bloomberg and K Quinn watching. I think the Bloomberg crew re-awakened this "past" rumor. Hang in there Weiner; and you wife is magnificent. if Quinn wins, this was an obvious trap
~Mayor Weiner--Weiner 4 Mayor.
Tami from bed-stuy
I am a die hard-liberal Democrat and I am outraged by Weiner's complete, repeated and incorrigible lack of judgment, his vulgarity, and abject dishonesty. He shows a complete lack of self-control, and a selfishness and self-obsession that is as shocking as it is disappointing. He is disrespectful of women as well as all potential constituents. He is only sorry that he got caught - again. The only silver lining is that he provides parents with a sorrowful teaching moment for children, as we can now definitively tell them what not to do as they approach adulthood and the opportunity for independent decision making. Weiner has shown himself to be a fool. He should step out of the race now and stay out of the public eye. Neither I nor my husband will ever vote for him.
Andrea from Manhattan
If he can disrespect his marriage vows then he could disrepect,t the citizens of New York! He should drop out the race.
Sidekick de Stranje
DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER JIMMY SWAGGART? HE GOT OVER THIS. WEINER IS HUMAN. SEE YOU IN 2017.
Make him go away. He insults every New Yorker by remaining in the race due to his huge ego and sociopathic tendencies. Haven't we suffered enough the last 12 years? Goodbye and take your wee wee with you.
I was ready to forgive and vote for him until I just saw footage of two camera men falling down in bushes, as they film/photograph him, and Weiner just steps over them and keeps walking instead of lending a hand to help. Great mayoral candidate! ::sarcasm::
I don't care how many times Huma forgives her husband. That doesn't mean that the rest of us have to go along with her. Maybe she belongs in a burka.
Here we go again, when are people going to stop judging others personal lives? People just love to attack and are so self righteous. No one is perfect. As far as I'm concerned, he's got my vote!
John in boerum hill
Not ONE of the candidates asking him to step down have a skeleton free closet! Christine Quinn is the speaker of the most corrupted City Council we've EVER had!!! Give me a break!!! We're looking for a mayor. Not a new pope!!!

Really Mr. Weiner?
The first time shame on you...the second shame on me and my fellow NYers
Give the guy a break ! Man is a beast. If he can do the job, let him show the goods to whoever he wants.

His actions show lack of character and poor judgement and both good judgement and strong character should be required to lead our great city.
Bay Ridge, Brooklyn
He is beyond reform. I know who he is. He is an animal -- he is a disgusting person... And he does not belong in public office! Are you kidding me?
why are they making such a thing about his indiscretion. Giuliani moved his mistress into Gracie Mansion with his wife and son !!!!!!!!!! they not only said nothing, they re-elected him. talk about double standards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that it is great that Mr. Weiner's wife loves him and forgives him, but what has that got to do with the people of New York City. We are not married to the man and should not have to put up with such nonsense. Can't he find another job. Is this the only job available in New York City. Let's vote for someone who isn't sexting naked pictures of himself to constituents.
