New Yorkers are dealing with another day of extreme heat Saturday, but severe storms are in the forecast for later in the day.
Central Park and LaGuardia Airport reported temperatures of 92 degrees and John F. Kennedy International Airport reported a temperature of 91 degrees as of 1 p.m. Saturday, officially marking day seven of the current heat wave.
A heat advisory will be in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday.
Con Edison set an all-time record for electricity usage Friday afternoon.
The utility has been dealing with scattered power outages, mostly in the Bronx, where some residents had to go the night without air conditioning.
Con Ed is still urging people to conserve energy.
City cooling centers are open for people who need a break from the weather, as are city beaches and pools.
Local fire houses can also provide spray caps to turn hydrants into cooling fountains.
