A city firefighter has been charged with making false 911 calls in order to steal money from his fellow firefighters.
The Department of Investigations says that firefighter Joseph Keene intentionally placed several false calls to 911 to initiate an FDNY response.
Officials say he has admitted to making the calls and stealing money and personal belongings of his colleagues in Queens and Staten Island while they were out of their firehouses.
Keene is facing charges that include falsely reporting an incident and burglary.
He could be sentenced to 15 years in prison if convicted.
