Police have made multiple arrests in Brooklyn and Staten Island that they say may be related to the case of an officer shot in East New York last week.

Police Officer Jamil Sarwar, seen above, was reportedly on patrol in the Cypress Hills Houses when he was shot in the leg on the night of July 4.

Authorities say one person who was arrested had two weapons.

"Two 9mm handguns were recovered at this location. And the individual who we did want to talk to about this incident, whose street name is 'Forty,' was arrested with the two 9mm in Staten Island today," said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

Shots were reported to have come from a rooftop in the housing complex.

Sarwar has been released from the hospital and is expected to recover. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
