A teenager playing with matches is being blamed for a fire in Brooklyn that sent two young children to the hospital.

The fire broke out early Saturday morning on the second floor of a building in the Van Dyke Houses in Brownsville.

By Monday night it was not known if the 15-year-old who fire marshals say was playing with those matches is related to the two children who ended up being trapped by the flames.

The 4-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl are being treated for serious injuries, and an adult was injured as well.

Officials from the Administration for Children's Services are also investigating the incident.
