After Hurricane Sandy, cellphones and other mobile devices were needed more than ever, and charging them was a big problem, which is why a pilot program from AT&T is putting free solar mobile charging stations across the city.
The stations can charge six devices at once.
Two are already up and running in Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn.
More stations are opening this week at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Governors Island, Riverside Park and Union Square Park.
More than two dozen stations are set to open by the end of summer.
