Police have released surveillance video on Monday of a man suspected of attempting to sexually assault a woman in Lower Manhattan on Sunday.

Investigators say the suspect, seen above, followed the 23-year-old victim into an elevator in the LaGuardia Houses on Cherry Street around 3 a.m. Sunday and attempted to sexually assault her.

The victim was treated at Beth Israel Hospital and released.

The suspect is described as being in his 30s and between 5-feet-6-inches and 5-feet-7-inches tall.

He was last seen wearing a plaid shirt, blue jeans and a knit hat.

The surveillance video shows the suspect leaving the building after the alleged attempted assault.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
