Over the weekend, police had wanted to speak with a teenager about a Friday shooting that wounded a girl in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx.

Authorities said 17-year-old Billy James Jr., seen above, was not considered a suspect, but police wanted to know where he was Friday night.

A shooter on a bike opened fire near the corner of 233rd Street and Bailey Avenue in Kingsbridge on Friday night.

The victim, identified by family and friends as Amanda, was outside playing when one of the stray bullets hit her in the torso.

"The little girl ran into the building, scared, crying, screaming for her mother at the top of her lungs. Me and my friend Macho had to approach her, we were trying to assure her she was safe and we were just trying to get her to the hospital," an eyewitness said.

The girl was expected to survive.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Billy James Jr. or the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or visit ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
