A driver is under arrest after a wild incident in which police say he crashed his SUV into a Bedford-Stuyvesant building.

Ronald Breland is facing charges of criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license.

The incident happened around 2:40 p.m. Friday.

Police say Breland was helping another driver near Broadway and Jefferson Avenue when he hit another car.

That's when police say he took off, chased by the car he hit.

Witnesses say Breland lost control and crashed into a building at Marion Street and Howard Avenue.

On Saturday, neighbors and residents of the apartment building stood outside waiting for answers.

Some say they were forced to evacuate so quickly after the crash that they weren't able to grab much of anything.

"Yesterday, I just get a blouse and that's it, and a blouse for my daughter and a pants. That's it," said Irma Kirkland, a displaced resident. "In two minutes, we cannot get nothing."

None of the building's residents sustained any injuries.

There's still no word on when residents will be allowed back into the building or how long repairs will take.

The Red Cross said it is helping 16 people from nine apartments.

Breland already faces drunk driving and drug charges from an incident last November.
