The city's bike-share program may have had its share of delays, but the first 5,000 memberships have now been sold, according to the Department of Transportation.
Those first 5,000 members are the only ones who get to ride during the first week of the program's launch, a special incentive for those who buy into the Citi-Bike program early.
The program was delayed more than a year because of technical problems and Hurricane Sandy.
It's finally set to begin in May, but no specific date has been announced.
The DOT says more memberships are available.
