Police are looking for a man who they say is responsible for the beating of a teenage girl in Queens.
Investigators say the suspect, seen on surveillance video, beat the 16-year-old with a brick in an alley Tuesday night on 43rd Street near 23rd Avenue in Astoria.
Police say the victim was not robbed.
She is at a local hospital with head injuries.
It's not clear if she knew her attacker.
"There is evidence that they were seen together prior to this. Now, we can't jump to conclusions about that because she hasn't been spoken to. She's still being incubated. But they might have known each other. They might have met right at the scene," said City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. of Queens. "We think the perp is probably somebody local."
The alleged attacker is described as six feet tall and in his mid-20's.
Police say he was last seen wearing a dark jacket, white t-shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers and dark gloves.
