Police say an 87-year-old driver lost control of his car Sunday in Mott Haven where it skidded onto the sidewalk and injured three pedestrians.
Witnesses say the car crashed into the side of a building before being jettisoned back onto East 149th Street near Bergen Avenue.
"I heard a big boom. As I looked out the window I saw there was about two people on the floor," a witness said. "There was two car accidents that just rammed into each other and just hit two people as well."
The three injured pedestrians have been transported to Lincoln Hospital in serious but stable condition. The driver was also brought to Lincoln Hospital for observation.
Workers in the building that was hit say only the outside of the building was damaged.
Police say it appears that the event was merely an accident and that no criminal wrongdoing is suspected.
