Businesses in the city have a new place to keep their vital information safe.
The Time Warner Cable Business Class Data Center is up and running.
The 17,000 square foot facility located at 396 Hudson Street serves as a nerve center for several businesses by providing power, fiber lines and maintenance.
And with parts of Lower Manhattan hit hard by Sandy the fact that it's 65 feet above sea level is a bonus.
"At the end of the day - with businesses of all types needing to have reliable data services - really becoming the life's blood of companies of all sizes. Having that piece of mind and the security of being in a remote location, that's capable of handling anything is critical to the city of New York. And it's critical to attracting businesses," said TWC Business Services President Ken Fitzpatrick.
This is the 10th data center the company has opened around the country.
Time Warner Cable is the parent company of NY1.
