Police say they have identified a suspect in a Friday afternoon shooting at the Gravesend Houses that left one person dead and three wounded.
Police are looking for Joseph Brown, 29, in connection with the shootings.
Police allege that a preliminary investigation revealed that Brown entered a fourth-floor apartment at the Gravesend Houses and shot four people.
One man died as a result of the shooting, according to police.
The man who died was identified as Angel Rivera, 28, by his sister, Ashley Serrano.
Serrano says Rivera went to the apartment to do someone's hair.
"I don't even know, to be honest," Serrano says. "All I know is, my brother was in there, just, I don't know, he opened the door and he got shot. It's crazy. Life is too short for this, and people just don't understand that."
Police say that a 24-year-old man is in critical condition at Lutheran Hospital after he was shot in the head.
A 62-year-old woman is also in critical condition at Lutheran Hospital after she was shot in the stomach, according to police.
Police say a fourth victim, a 40-year-old man, suffered a graze wound to the head.
Neighbors said they were taken by surprise.
"Why we were shocked is because nothing ever happens in this building," said Susan Maragni, who lives in the building. "This is relatively a very, very quiet street right here."
"It's crazy," said William Maragni, who also lives in the building. "Like she says, it's a building and its safe. There's no problems over here. Now, there's a problem all of a sudden. That really makes it bad."
According to authorities, Brown is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and has long braided hair.
Police are still investigating a motive for the shootings.
