Three months after Hurricane Sandy struck, a building in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn is still working a working elevator and many elderly and disabled renters in the building have been essentially held captive that whole time. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following NY1 For You report.

Tenants in a Brighton Beach apartment building have been stuck without a working elevator since October, when Hurricane Sandy hit.

"I'm frustrated, I'm upset, I'm furious," says Michael Royzman, one of the tenants.

"I live on the sixth floor and every day I cannot go out," says Alexander Fayn, another tenant.

Three weeks ago, NY1 For You first covered how elderly and disabled tenants in the six-floor building were confined to their apartments because the elevator had not been fixed since Sandy.

At the time, NY1 called the city Department of Buildings and a spokeswoman told the station that the owner's elevator company was in the process of repairing the elevator.

Three weeks later after that call, the elevator was still out and tenants were still trapped.

NY1 called the Department of Buildings again and this time a spokesman said the agency is now investigating the matter.
