Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says a fired bullet was found near the body of a woman who was shot and killed near Brookdale Hospital Tuesday.
Kelly says investigators believe the bullet was fired at close range, but says he's not in a position yet to say if Shalema Gaskin was targeted.
The commissioner also says they're looking for surveillance video, but cameras in the immediate area were not operational at the time.
Police say the mother of three took one of her daughters to the hospital after she had an asthma attack.
They say Gaskin then went home to her other children, leaving the child's father at the hospital.
She was shot upon her return to Brookdale.
Police sources say the father was accounted for during the shooting.
