More city students who were displaced by Hurricane Sandy can return to their regular schools Monday morning.

The Department of Education says five schools in Brooklyn and seven schools in Queens that were damaged by Sandy will be able to hold classes Monday.

See the DOE's latest information on school closings.

All the reopening schools had their power restored and two of those schools are reopening ahead of schedule.

The Waterside Children's Studio School, the Waterside School for Leadership and the Goldie Maple Academy in Queens received temporary boilers and power, according to DOE officials.

Also in Queens, temporary boiler and generators were also installed in the building that houses P.S. 43, D79 Adult Ed and P.S. 256 Annex and the building that houses P.S./M.S. 42 R. Vernam

In Brooklyn, power was restored and temporary boilers were installed at P.S. 90 Edna Cohen School, P.S. 329 Surfside and P.S. 188 Michael E. Berdy.

At P.S. 015 Patrick F. Daly and the PAVE Academy Charter School, water also needed to be pumped out of the basement.

Some other schools were so damaged that their opening days will have to be pushed back.

City officials say that leaves 18 schools and about 8,000 students that are still being relocated.

It could take until January to get all those schools open. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
