At Wave Crest Gardens in Far Rockaway there is still no power or heat, and LIPA isn't giving residents any clue as to when to expect it back or what they are doing to fix it. NY1's Susan Jhun has the story.

Residents at Wave Crest Gardens in Far Rockaway say the Long Island Power Authority has kept them in the dark about when their power will come back on.

"We are forgotten," says resident Valerie Simon. "We are forsaken."

"It's been like living in Hell," resident Stainton Stewart said.

Except this Hell is cold with no heat, no hot water and no lights.

"We've called no answer," Simon said. "They seem to be ducking and dodging us."

"We have no heat, no light, no elevator," said resident Justina Eshun. "For me, I have a disability. I have to climb the stairs up and down. It's really been bad."

These buildings are just the tip of the iceberg. NY1 has heard from countless LIPA customers who have no power and no answers. They say they want LIPA to be held accountable.

"Why don't we have a generator," Simon said. "We live in a modern age, and you know, at least put some lights on."

"We don't see anybody come around to see what's going on," Stewart said.

Some residents say LIPA representatives told them it may be another month before they get their power back.

We reached out to LIPA for comment but they didn't respond to us either.

We've also reached out to the management of Wave Crest Gardens and we're still waiting to hear back.

"I don't know what to do now," Eshun said. "Honestly, I tried to call hotels so that we can move into the hotel. All the hotels have been booked."

With no other options these tenants will have to wait it out at the mercy of their utility provider.
