New York voters were still processing the candidates' performance the morning after the final debate of the presidential campaign. NY1's Roger Clark filed the following report.
It was pretty easy to find some opinionated New Yorkers the morning after the third and final debate.
"I think Obama was very clear in all of his points and he was very presidential. Romney clearly has no experience or clue of what he is doing," said one New Yorker.
"I thought Romney did really well," said another New Yorker.
Many people who spoke with NY1 said their minds were already made up but watched anyway, including one guy who already voted through an absentee ballot in his native Pennsylvania.
"Maybe to further reinforce my pre-conceived notions about this election," the man noted.
One woman also watched despite being discouraged by the candidates' behavior during the debate.
"Is it a great choice? No I don't think it is but we have to pick someone, somebody's got to run the country so we have to figure out what the best choice is," she said.
An overwhelming majority of viewers responding to a NY1 Snap Poll said the president came out on top in the debate. Eighty-seven percent said it was the president; 10 percent said Mitt Romney; and three percent said it was a tie.
"Well honestly I think Mitt Romney was lying through his teeth, just trying to look cool for the television and I like the way Obama shut him down," said one New Yorker.
One Obama supporter conceded that the president's opponent didn't do badly either.
"He had some very good responses I think Mitt Romney on a whole has responded very well in these debates, and he has a very good presence," he said.
Some would-be voters were so sure about their decision, they didn't get around to watching.
"I was watching the football game," noted one New Yorker. "I already kinda have my mind made up."
"I've already decided and I had other plans," said another New Yorker.
Of all the people we talked with, there wasn't one undecided voter in the group. As one woman put it, "I think the choice is pretty clear." But there are no doubt still some people out there who will be doing some serious soul searching over the next two weeks.
