Police are asking for the public's help as they search for a man wanted for an attempted rape in Manhattan over the weekend.

Police say the man, who was caught on surveillance video, followed a 35-year-old woman into her building in Washington Heights just after 3 a.m. on Sunday and tried to rape her.

The woman fought the man off and he ran away.

The suspect is described as between 20 and 25 years old and about 5'10" tall.

He was last seen wearing a black vest jacket, black jeans, and a plaid shirt.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
