Police are still searching for a suspect in the death of a pregnant Brooklyn woman over the weekend after she was found with stab wounds to the neck by her landlord just hours before she was supposed to be married.
Vindalee Smith, 38, was supposed to have been married on Sunday, but instead she was found on Saturday morning lying dead on the floor inside her home on East 94th Street in East Flatbush.
Smith, who had stab wounds to her neck, was eight months pregnant. Her unborn son did not survive the attack.
Investigators say Smith's home had no signs of forced entry, and they did not find a weapon.
Police interviewed her fiance, family and friends, but by Sunday evening had not found a suspect.
Officers were seen entering and exiting New Dimension Seventh-Day Adventist Church, a local church where Smith often attended services.
Smith's friends say she was a devout Christian who would have had a baby shower on Saturday, a day before her planned wedding.
"Vindalee is a faithful sister, she dedicated her life to God for three-and-a-half years ago now," said church member Andrew Connor. "And she was always one of the first members to come to the church on time. Even on wednesday afternoon for prayer meeting, she's always on time."
Smith is survived by two adult daughters and two teenage boys.
