There's a light at the end of the MTA's new tunnel between Manhattan and Queens.
On Thursday, workers finished excavating a continuous tunnel from Sunnyside to a cavern 12 stories under Grand Central Terminal.
They say this will be a new path for LIRR trains as part of the MTA's East Side Access project.
It's actually the largest infrastructure project in the country.
The milestone is a bright spot for the project, which the MTA says was pushed back several times and has gone 30 percent over budget.
Overall, the project is expected to cost nearly $8.5 billion.
Completion is scheduled for 2019.
