Drivers who take the Lincoln Tunnel into the city overnight may want to find another route.
Starting Monday night, the main inbound approach to the Lincoln is shutting down and will remain that way every night for the next year.
The Port Authority's so-called Helix Fix will close the lanes weekdays from 10:30 p.m. until 5 a.m.
Lanes will also be closed on Saturdays from 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m. and Sundays from 1 a.m. until 9 a.m.
Traffic is being detoured off the roadway onto local streets during the closures.
The work is expected to create a smoother driving surface and reduce future delays for periodic maintenance.
Construction is expected to last through late next summer.
