The man charged with vandalizing the historic Ed Sullivan Theater has entered a guilty plea.
Exactly one year ago Tuesday, James Whittemore, 23, smashed the glass doors in the lobby of the theater where David Letterman tapes the "Late Show".
Whittemore said he was drunk at the time.
He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor criminal-mischief charge.
The deal spares him any jail time.
He has already paid $7,000 in restitution and has sought alcohol abuse treatment.
