Police are looking for a brazen thief who they say took a $150,000 piece of art off the wall and walked out of a gallery on the Upper East Side.
Investigators say the man walked into the Venus Over Manhattan gallery on Madison Avenue around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The man posed as a customer before allegedly swiping the Salvador Dali painting off the wall, dropping it into a black shopping bag and walking out the front door.
The 1949 piece named ''Cartel des Don Juan Tenorio'' was part of the inaugural exhibition of the gallery, which opened just last month.
The suspect is described as being between 35 and 45 years old, 5'7" to 5'9" tall with a receding hairline.
He was last seen wearing a black and white checked shirt and dark jeans.
