Seven people were taken to the hospital Monday after a school bus overturned following a crash in Queens.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of 150th Street and 87th Avenue in Briarwood.

Police say a yellow cab ran a red light and smashed into the school bus carrying special needs students from PS 80 and Yeshiva University High School.

Witnesses at the scene say the cab driver was on a cellphone.

"You see a school bus and the way the school bus was, you know, against that house over there like on the side, you know, you of course imagine the worst but thankfully, you know, from what I hear all of the kids are fine," said one witness.

Seven people, including five children, suffered minor injuries. They were all treated and released from Long Island Jewish Hospital.

There were no passengers in the cab.

The bus matron, who was initially pinned inside the bus, was taken to Jamaica Hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.
