A Brooklyn mother of five was killed Thursday after being struck by a car being driven by a Secret Service agent.
Police say Maria Tripp, 47, was hit by a black Chevy Impala while she was crossing Atlantic Avenue near Ralph Avenue just before 5 p.m.
Witnesses say she was walking with her daughter and nephew.
Her nephew was able to pull Tripp's daughter to safety, but Tripp was not able to get out of the way.
"They were crossing the street, a speeder, a car came by speeding. She didn't know which way to move, which happens to anybody sometimes," said Alan Taylor, the victim's brother. "She got hit. The fellow she was with grabbed the two kids and got them to safety."
Tripp was rushed to Interfaith Hospital where she later died.
The driver remained at the scene.
He is not expected to be charged.
A spokesperson for the agency would not comment on whether the agent was on duty at the time.
