Jurors in the embezzlement trial for former State Senator Pedro Espada Jr. heard testimony from a former lawyer for his Bronx health care clinic on Wednesday.

Alexander Fear said he was never told Espada got a pay raise after he was elected to the State Senate in 2008.

The federal government, which contributed funding to the clinic, wanted Espada to take a pay cut to reflect his reduced hours after bing elected to his seat in Albany.

Fear told the court Espada asked him to write to the government saying the lawmaker would be cutting back his hours.

The government was also told, inaccurately, that Espada was also cutting back on his pay.
