Patrol officers located Wednesday night a Queens woman and the baby daughter she took from Queens General Hospital Pediatric Center earlier in the day without permission.

Police found Leila Rajanarie and her baby, Nevita Jagdeo, who is about seven months old, in the back seat of a livery cab at 133rd Street and 101st Avenue in Ozone Park.

Officers pulled over the livery cab and identified both the mother and daughter, according to police.

Authorities say Rajanarie took her daughter during a hospital visit just after noon, as the baby's foster mother talked to a doctor in another room.

Nevita's disappearance triggered a statewide Amber Alert that lasted a few hours.

The baby was brought back to the hospital in stable condition and Rajanarie was immediately taken into police custody.

Rajanarie's neighbors said they could not believe she kidnapped her own child and some said she was distraught.

"She threw all the baby toys in the garbage," said one neighbor.

Another local man said he knows Rajanarie and she came into his bodega recently crying because the Administration for Children's Services took the baby from her.

"It's surprising or shocking to me knowing she did something like that. I never expect it coming from her," he said. "She's depressed a lot. She wanted to do anything to get back the kid."

He also said that Rajanarie and her baby were found on the same block in Ozone Park where the baby's father lives.

By late Wednesday, no arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing.
