Far Rockaway's embattled Peninsula Hospital has laid off more than 200 workers after the state forced a partial shutdown of the facility.
The Queens hospital let 230 inpatient care staffers go on Friday.
The group includes nurses, emergency room employees, and support staff.
The move follows an order last week by the state Health Department that Peninsula be partially shut down for 30 days because its laboratory services did not meet state standards.
The hospital was told to stop admitting new patients, end all surgeries, and develop a plan to transfer current patients after an inspection found safety problems
A spokesperson for Peninsula says those laid off will most likely be rehired after the hospital reopens.
