The parents of 19-year-old Manhattan slain soldier Danny Chen spoke out against the U.S. Army on Tuesday, saying they were not given enough information from the government about their child's death.

Family and friends said they were told the private's death last month in Afghanistan was not combat-related and that Chen was bullied by other soldiers.

Community groups in Chinatown and the East Village, where Chen grew up, have been trying to secure a meeting with Secretary of the Army John McHugh.

"He must assure the family that the [Army is] proactively taking measures and steps to make sure that this incident, that this tragedy will never happen again," said Brooklyn-Manhattan-Queens Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez.

At the request of the Chen family, community leaders have asked for a copy of the soldier's autopsy report.

Family members also want a full copy of Chen's journal, as they have only received three pages to this point.

NY1 has reached out to the U.S. Army for comment.
