Several parties said Thursday that the struggling Peninsula Hospital Center in the Rockaways will remain open after weeks of uncertainty about its future.

A union for hospital workers at Peninsula has told its members that a deal is in place with Revival Home Health Care of Brooklyn to keep the hospital open.

Word comes after a meeting on Wednesday between Revival, hospital workers, and union reps.

The state Department of Health has to approve the deal for it to be finalized.

Workers say keeping the hospital open would be unprecedented.

"The community listened, the Department of Health listened, everybody seems to be listening. We are going to make history and save this hospital and save Rockaway Peninsula,” said Susan Greene, lab technologist.

“This is something that has not been done in all of New York, where a hospital — which they considered a small community hospital — has actually won the victory to keep the hospital open," said Myrtle E. Williams, nurse.

Doctors and staff members have been rallying for more than a month to keep the financially struggling hospital open.

Closure would leave the Rockaways with only one hospital in the area.
